Photograph printed as sepia tinted postcard, captioned "President Coolidge at Christ Church, Philadelphia, July 5, 1926, passing the Tablet to the Seven Signers." President Coolidge wearing his top hat is in the center flanked by Inscription on back carries Coolidge's message: The President's Message on Independence Day. "When we come to a comtemplation of the immediate conception of the principles of human relationship which went into the Declaration of Independence, they are found in the texts, the sermons and the writings of the early colonial clergy who were earnestly undertaking to instruct their congregations in the great mystery of how to live. "Unless the faith of the American people in these religious convictions is to endure, the principles of our Declaration will perish. "If we are to maintain the great herigate which the fathers bequeathed to us, we must keep replenished the altar fires before which they worshiped." |
