Whitaker, Ozi William
Fifth bishop of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, 1887-1911. Mounted in a gilt frame.
Ozi William Whitaker was born in New Salem, Massachusetts in 1830, attended Amherst College and Middlebury College as well as General Theological Seminary. He was ordained in July 1863 and left for missionary work in Nevada. Elected Missionary bishop of Nevada and Arizona in 1868, in 1886 he was elected assistant bishop of Pennsylvania and then Bishop of Pennsylvania in 1887.
